2017 Bell Ringing
This Christmas Join the Fight for Good!
Become a Salvation Army Volunteer bell ringer today! The "miracle" of Christmas is repeated over and over again through the joy of caring and sharing.
All donations raised stay right here in Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties to Fight for Good! When you give your time or change - expect change! Through the generous support of the community, we are able to share the joy and spirit of the holidays with hundreds each year who struggle to provide Christmas for their children, and help our neighbors with food, warmth, emergency assistance and an open door to services and support in their time of need throughout the year. While the weather may be cold, Bell Ringing is definitely one of the most heartwarming experiences you can have.
Did you know?
Your priceless donation of 2 hours generates on average $80 - that provides food for 80 community meals or keeps the heat on for a struggling family.
Volunteer Bell Ringing
Christmas has an Army and we need you! You can help do the most good for the most people in the most need simply by being a bell ringer and supporting the Red Kettle Campaign this holiday season. Every day here at The Salvation Army we provide assistance and hope to our neighbors during their most challenging times. When you bell ring at a Salvation Army Red Kettle, you can help raise awareness and funds to provide to food, warmth, emergency assistance, and other critical services at Christmas and throughout the year ahead.
As little as two hours of your time and the wonderful support of our area businesses hosting Red Kettles, you can be part of our Salvation Army Bell Ringing Team! You can sign up to volunteer individually, as a family, group or business team building November 10 through December 23. See area locations below.

Two forms of ID (driver’s license or picture ID & social security card) are required.
Salary is $9.50 per hr. You can choose your days based on your schedule.
Why Paid Bell Ringer?
While the majority of our Bell Ringers are volunteers from civic organizations, schools, businesses, churches and our friends, neighbors and families some are seasonal employees. The Red Kettle Campaign is our largest fundraiser of the year and critical to raising funds to provide services through the Christmas Season and 2018. The generosity of volunteers is immense, but there are times we are unable to fill all of the locations.
Many of the paid Bell Ringers are the very same folks that our programs serve as well as individuals who have may income restrictions, retirees and those who are looking to make some extra cash for the holiday season. The biggest difference is that volunteers generally commit to donating 2 hrs. of their time at any given time while paid Bell Ringers commit up to 10 hour shifts.
