Emergency Shelter Program
The Michigan State Department of Human Services has contracted with The Salvation Army to administer the Emergency Shelter Program (ESP).
$10 million in grant money from the ESP provides funds for Emergency Homeless Shelters as well as allocating funds to the Housing Assistance Resource Agency (Hara) for emergency motel placement.
The Salvation Army, Travese City Corps hosts one of the three Zone Managers throughout the State. Zone Managers provide technical support, oversight of ESP, conducts shelter reviews (audits), rectify accounts receivable, attend local, regional Continuum of Care (COC), State Department of Human Services and Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) meetings in Lansing.
